Questions from school teams

Clear answers for a serious decision.

The essentials for leaders evaluating curriculum quality, student support, workload, pacing, and implementation.

Is CoreK12AI a curriculum or a software platform?

It is a connected instructional system. CoreK12AI combines a broad catalog of complete courses with the CIM environment for delivery, automated grading, intervention, messaging, tracking, controls, and reporting.

How are standard and honors courses structured?

A standard course includes six units with five lessons each, for 30 lessons total. Honors courses include eight units with five lessons each, for 40 lessons. Each course is designed as an 18-week semester, so yearlong sequences can be offered as paired courses such as Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B.

What does each lesson include?

Each lesson includes lesson content, checks for understanding, formative questions, and summative questions. Courses also include lesson tests, unit tests, one midterm, one final exam, and pre- and post-assessments.

What happens when a student misses a question?

The missed item can trigger question-level RTI tied to the underlying concept. CIM sends the student a message and provides targeted support such as structured notes and additional guidance, creating a direct path back to learning.

Can we prevent students from completing courses too quickly?

Yes. Schools can configure controls such as minimum time in a lesson, required passing percentages, mandatory videos, limits on lessons completed per day, exam locks, attempt policies, prerequisites, and time limits.

How are essays handled in English courses?

English courses include essays that receive automated grading and immediate feedback. Students receive a grade breakdown, see where points were lost, and get actionable revision guidance while the work is still fresh.

Will this replace our teachers?

No. The goal is to make teachers more available for the work that requires people: building relationships, motivating students, supporting complex needs, communicating with families, and using professional judgment. CoreK12AI handles high-volume repeatable work such as grading, intervention routing, and course administration.

Who can use CIM?

CIM supports the school community with role-appropriate experiences for administrators, teachers and staff, students, and parents. Curriculum, progress, intervention, communication, and reporting remain connected in one environment.

Can CoreK12AI support special education programs?

CoreK12AI includes specialized course pathways for varied learning needs. During implementation, we discuss your student population, program model, course needs, pacing, and staff workflows to align the system appropriately.

Can the system be customized for our school?

Yes. Course rules, pacing requirements, mastery thresholds, media requirements, assessment controls, workflows, roles, and reporting expectations can be configured around school needs.
