CoreK12AI instructional framework

Consistency for the system. Support for every learner.

A practical framework that connects curriculum, assessment, intervention, school controls, and reporting in one repeatable instructional cycle.

01 · Begin with evidence

Know where learning starts.

Pre-assessments establish a starting point before instruction begins. Embedded checks for understanding, formative questions, lesson tests, unit tests, and larger exams then create a continuous evidence trail throughout the semester.

02 · Teach through a stable architecture

Familiar structure lowers friction.

Standard courses follow six units with five lessons per unit. Honors courses expand to eight units. In every course, students encounter a dependable sequence of lesson content, understanding checks, practice, assessment, and support.

A complete assessment system

  • Checks for understanding inside each lesson
  • Formative and summative questions
  • Lesson tests and unit tests
  • One midterm and one final exam
  • Pre- and post-assessments

03 · Respond at the point of need

Intervention happens inside instruction.

When a student misses a question, CIM can connect that response to targeted RTI, structured notes, and additional conceptual support. The student receives a message explaining the assigned intervention, while staff retain visibility into what support was provided.

04 · Protect rigor

Flexible does not mean unstructured.

Schools can define minimum lesson time, mastery thresholds, required media, daily lesson limits, assessment access, attempt rules, and exam time limits. These controls help make course completion a more meaningful signal of learning.

05 · Close the loop

Turn completion data into instructional insight.

Post-assessments, performance trends, pacing, intervention history, and course activity remain connected in CIM. Leaders can monitor the system, teachers can see who needs attention, and families and students gain clearer expectations.
